Drea, Danity, and Day 26!
03.22.08
Hey Guys!
It’s Andrea coming to you from the FAB MTV Press Department with my very first blog entry --- and I promise to be gentle! So, I got the chance to hang out with the cast of “MTV’s Making The Band 4” the other day and I think it’ll be another day or so before I’ve finally recuperated. My Tuesday started early, like 5AM early, as I was to accompany the lovely ladies of Danity Kane to their appearance on the CW11 Morning Show. D.K. was there to promote their new album Welcome To The Dollhouse and had a 4AM call time so that they could get, well.. “dolled” up for the live show (yes, beauty is pain and preparation dahlings.) Anyhoo, it’s always a pleasure watching Aubrey, Dawn, Audrea, Shannon and D. Woods because they’re truly blossoming into polished pop stars. During the interview, they chatted about the new album (I’ve got “Bad Girl” on repeat right now), the upcoming “Making The Band 4” March 23rd season finale, and they gave a brief acapella performance of their catchy new single “Damaged.” I felt like a proud mother --- well, “big sister” --- watching her girls follow their dreams. Once I was done with them, it was back to MTV studios to meet up with the boys of Day 26.
Now don’t get me wrong, I do love the girls, but I certainly had no problem spending time with the cuties of Day 26. To think, it was less than a year ago that Willie, Brian, Robert, Qwanell and Mike were relatively unknown, and now they’re being chased by mobs of female fans down streets and through malls. The guys are beyond happy about their first self titled album which hits the stores on March 25th and when I’m not bumping the Danity Kane album, I’m most definitely giving the boys’ first single “Got Me Going” a few spins --- those boys can sang!
After hanging with the fellas for a few hours I was back with the girls for their afternoon appearance on TRL. The gossip blogs tend to give them a hard time about their fashion choices but honey, those girls were doin’ the damn thing in matching winter white dresses! They talked about the album again, of course, and gave everyone in the audience a free copy. Oh, and there was this guy backstage who is a huge Danity Kane fan and once the ladies were done with the interview and back in their street clothes, they were gracious enough to meet with him and take a picture --- it was sooo cute and I’m glad to see that their success hasn’t gone to their heads.
Well after the impromptu meet ‘n ‘ greet, the girls were whisked off to an in-store album signing and a record release party later that night at NYC hotspot Tenjune. As you can see, the life of a fabu girl group is hectic --- almost as hectic as the life of a fabu publicist :) Alright kids, that’s it for now. Like I said, this was two days ago and I’m still recovering!
I love you all, but I gots ta go…
Mwah!
--- Andrea
