mtvU (http://www.mtvu.com) is an on-air, online, wireless and on campus network created by and for the college audience.  Broadcasting via satellite 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to over seven million students on 750 campuses, mtvU is the largest and most comprehensive multi-platform channel for college students.

Scope

mtvU is in 97 of the top 100 DMAs - including all top 50 markets - and is measured by Nielsen Media Research.  Schools range from Ohio State to Stanford, UCLA to NYU.

mtvU can be seen on campus in college dorm rooms, dining halls, fitness centers and student lounges.  It is also the first MTV Networks channel distributed in its entirety over broadband, streaming 24/7 and on demand via mtvU.com

mtvU also owns and operates College Publisher, the largest interactive network of online college newspapers in the US, reaching over 5 million college students via 500 online campus papers.

Programming

Emerging music is the heart of mtvU. On air, online and on wireless, the channel features thousands of music videos from artists bubbling up on the college scene which can’t be found anywhere else.  mtvU is also home to the mtvU Woodie Awards - the only awards honoring the artists and music voted best by the college audience.

Emmy-nominated Stand In brings cultural icons like Nobel Laureates Elie Wiesel and Shimon Peres, Madonna, Senator John McCain, Sting, Bill Gates, Marilyn Manson, Tom Wolfe, George Clinton, Frank McCourt, Kanye West, Melissa Etheridge and others into college classrooms to surprise-teach for a day.

mtvU is a megaphone for college students, empowering them to effect positive social change both globally and locally.  The network’s campaign to help end the genocide in Darfur, Sudan has enlightened millions, mobilized countless students to become involved, and was recognized with two Emmy Awards - including the 2006 Governors Award, the highest honor given by the Academy - as well as four Beacon Awards, cable television’s highest awards for public affairs excellence.

Through The Opening, a show that tracks a day in the life of recent graduates in a wide variety of fields, and mtvU’s online career center at jobs.mtvU.com, mtvU has become a valuable job resource for students - offering important tools for job hunting, resume building, and interviewing, plus a new entry-level “dream job” posting every week.

mtvU.com enables college students to vote their favorite videos into rotation on mtvU, apply for grants, discover unique opportunities to launch their careers, find out about on-campus events and much more.

Exclusive Opportunities and Contests

mtvU is a creative laboratory for college students.  With ongoing competitions to find the best musicians, filmmakers, writers and digital pioneers on campus, mtvU gives students the chance to showcase their talents on a national stage and jumpstart their careers.  Further, mtvU Grants give student activists up to $1,000 every week of the school year to support their pro-social initiatives.

On Campus

mtvU is always on campus, with more than 300 events per year, including exclusive concerts, giveaways and shooting mtvU shows.  Key annual on campus events include Back to School, Spring Break, Campus Invasion Tour, Tailgate Tour and the GAME0rz Ball Tour.
