Carlos Santos

VJ

Carlos Santos has brought wit, rhythm and a passion for music as MTV Tr3s’ VJ since the channel launched in 2006. Now, he can be seen as co-host of MTV’s “New Afternoons on MTV” and MTV Tr3s’ “Entertainment as a Second Language w/ Carlos Santos.” No stranger to the MTV or MTV Tr3s audience, Carlos has hosted a number of shows and specials and is actively involved in pro-social initiatives across the brands.

With diverse appeal and experience, Carlos served as host of MTV Tr3s’ “Mi TRL,” “Mi TRL Awards,” “Top 20” and “Alma Awards Red Carpet” and in 2008, began hosting MTV specials, “The Real World: Hollywood Reunion,” “The Final Faceoff,” “Rah! Paula Abdul Cheerleading Bowl,” “Engaged and Underage: Live!” and “Be the Change: Live from the Inaugural.”

Understanding the importance of giving back, Carlos has always been active about his passion for education and voting. Growing up in California, he spent time volunteering at Friends of Lockwood, a charity that helps underprivileged children enjoy their time in school. In 2008 he served as keynote at Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s Leaders on Fast Track (LOFT) Awards in Washington, DC and co-hosted “Be the Change: Live from the Inaugural,” where he reported from New Orleans, LA as volunteers worked to rebuild a house for a family that lost everything during hurricane Katrina. Also an avid supporter of voter registration and communicating the importance of Latinos getting their vote out, Carlos interviewed Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-31) to discuss the importance of the Latino to vote and spent a portion of “Mi TRL” to highlight the work of Voto Latino, an organization that informs and empowers the Latin community on the importance of registering to vote.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Carlos moved to California in 2000 to attend Fresno State University, where he received a B.A. in Theatre Arts. Dedicated to honing his craft, after graduation he moved to LA and was accepted and later graduated from the Conservatory for Second City in Improv. Passionate about entertaining and bringing his love for music to life, he spends time touring the college circuit doing stand-up and is involved in musical project “Puerto del Mundo” in Puerto Rico. Carlos has recently been featured on seventeen.com’s 17-buzz and in Latina Magazine’s “What Guys Wish You Knew.” He resides in New York City.
