Tired of the same old afterschool TV? Well this isn’t your parent’s afterschool programming…MTV kicks it up a notch with “New Afternoons on MTV” hosted by singer, actress and songwriter Adrienne Bailon and MTV Tr3́s VJ Carlos Santos. The “New Afternoons on MTV” block features brand new episodes of “Sex…with Mom and Dad,” a revamped “Room Raiders 2.0,” and the latest installments of “Parental Control” airing weekdays from 4pm – 6pm ET/PT. Throughout the afternoon, each show will include hosted segments woven within the block. The “New Afternoons on MTV” will be the destination for viewers to interact with other viewers and various cast members, who will share their thoughts on the shows and answer behind-the scenes questions via webcam. In addition, the “New Afternoons on MTV” will welcome celebrities as they stop by for some “couch time” with Adrienne and Carlos. “New Afternoons on MTV” begin on Monday, February 16th at 4pm.

“We are continuing to ramp up new series volume at unprecedented levels, expanding to new time slots including Sunday nights, and now Afternoons on MTV, said Tony DiSanto, Executive Vice President, Series Development & Programming.  “Everyday, we will be serving up brand new episodes of hit series including ‘Sex…with Mom and Dad’ season 2, the return of ‘Room Raiders,’ and the latest installments of our hit franchise, ‘Parental Control.’  We are also thrilled to have hosts; Adrienne and Carlos tie it all together as they interact with viewers, get updates from series cast members and welcome celebrities as drop by the studio.”

“I grew up tuned in to MTV and am excited to become a part of the MTV family. I’m looking forward to all the fun we’re going to have” said Andrienne Bailon.

In addition to the regular programming, viewers will get a daily dose of the MTV wrap up show “MTV Detox,” hosted by MTV’s resident pop-culture expert Jim Cantiello, which until now has only been available on MTV Mobile and MTV.com.  Also included in the “New Afternoons on MTV” is “DISSED,” is a new short form docu-series for MTV Mobile.  In each spot a set of close friends (turned frenemies) rant and rave to viewers about the DISS that messed up their friendship.  Viewers are then presented with a simple moral question based on the issue at hand (i.e. Is it a DISS to flirt with your best friend’s ex?) and instructed to vote on whether or not they feel the frenemy was DISSED.  Results are revealed at the end of the show, online and via mobile messaging.
“New Afternoons on MTV” programming line-up is as follows:

Sex….with Mom and Dad
Dr. Drew’s groundbreaking series Sex…with Mom and Dad is back for a second season, and is digging deeper than ever before.  With more emotional stories, tougher tasks that get to the root of the problem, and a new look that incorporates vintage sex education footage, this season takes sex ed - and family communication - to a whole new level.  The families in crisis range from a 17-year-old virgin whose parents are worried that he’s not interested in sex; to a 19-year-old whose parents worry that his sexual appetite– sometimes even trading sex for money and tacos – is ruining his life.  Whatever the family’s problem, Loveline’s relationship expert and licensed physician, Dr. Drew, dives into the issues during three intense therapy sessions and two unusual, “hands on” homework assignments that get the whole family to start communicating about sex – often for the first time.  And, after the show, if viewers want any additional information on sexual health topics, Sex…with Mom and Dad will once again be pairing up with http://www.itsyoursexlife.com to provide videos, articles, and discussion forums on sexual health.  Real, fun, awkward, life-changing, and more emotional than ever, Sex…with Mom and Dad proves that if you can talk to your parents about sex, you can talk to them about anything.

Room Raiders 2.0
In this re-launched season, “Room Raiders 2.0,” is delving into more that just closets and drawers. “Room Raiders 2.0” is ramping up the search mission and no technology is safe from our searchers. With lives being more and more tech-savvy, contestants will be checking out the computer history, cell phones, music preferences, digital cameras and text messages of total strangers. They’ll decide who to date based on the contents of not just bedrooms, but their most private possessions.

Parental Control
Here is mom & dad’s chance to do something about that poor excuse for a loser that their son or daughter just started dating. Fed-up parents will each choose someone they feel is good dating material and their lucky son or daughter will get to date them both. Here’s where it gets really uncomfortable. Mom and dad will be watching every minute of each date sitting right next to their child’s current boyfriend or girlfriend that they’re hoping will get dumped. After going on both dates, the unfortunate kid will have to make a decision—stick with the current relationship or chose to start a relationship with one of mom or dad’s choices.

Actress, dancer, and recording artist Adrienne Bailon, best known as “Chanel” from worldwide sensations The Cheetah Girls, got her start in entertainment at the age of 14 in music. Currently Bailon is continuing to expand in all areas and has several projects in the works. Born in Manhattan’s lower eastside, Bailon is of Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian descent. As an actress, Bailon’s credits include roles in several hits, including Disney Channel’s That’s So Raven and Buffalo Dreams, the 2006 MTV feature, All You’ve Got, and the feature film, Coach Carter, starring Samuel L. Jackson.  Having been fortunate enough to experience success at a young age, Bailon has always focused on giving back and being a positive role model. She continues to be an advocate for girls, and a vigilant volunteer for many important causes and charities, including the Girls Scouts of America, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Make-A-Wish, Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day and City of Hope. Additionally, as a teen, Bailon traveled to Nicaragua to live with a local family and help build schools.

Carlos Santos brings rhythm, wit and a passion for music to his gig as MTV Tr3́s VJ and will continue to do the same for “New Afternoons on MTV.”  Currently the host of MTV Tr3s’s signature show, MiTRL, Carlos also hosts a variety of specials and is involved MTV Tr3́s pro-social efforts.  Born and raised in Puerto Rico against the background of the emerging sound of reggaeton, Carlos’s passion for music developed as he listened to a wide mix of Latino and American music on radio and on MTV.  When he later moved to California, he became enthralled with the Rock en Español movement and the Indie scene of Los Angeles.  In addition, Carlos is a talented actor, TV host and comedian.  Carlos’ previous TV credits include stand up comedy performance for “Loco Comedy Jam, “host and segment producer for the award winning bilingual music variety show “LATV Live”, and a number of other shows for the same network (LATV/ KJLA).
