HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE LIVESTREAM ALBUM RELEASE SHOW FROM NEW YORK CITY ON MTV HIVE AND “120 MINUTES ROAD TO RELEASE THE BLACK KEYS” AND EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW ON “MTV2’s 120 MINUTES WITH MATT PINFIELD”
MTV today announced a multiplatform celebration surrounding the launch of The Black Keys’ forthcoming album “El Camino” across its various screens beginning this week, including daily interstitial content “MTV2’s 120 Minutes Road to Release The Black Keys,” http://www.mtv2.com a liv,estream of the album release show from New York City on Monday, December 5th exclusively on MTV Hive, http://www.mtvhive.com as we,ll as an interview with Matt Pinfield on MTV2’s 120 Minutes with Matt Pinfield on Friday, December 16.
“MTV has the incomparable ability to harness the power of our television and digital screens to connect fans with the artists they love,” said Amy Doyle, Executive Vice President of Music and Talent Programming Strategy for MTV. “We’ve been supporters of The Black Keys since 2003 and are very excited to celebrate the release of their highly anticipated new album by bringing it to their fans through multiple screens.”
Gearing up for the release of El Camino on Tuesday, December 6th, beginning this week, MTV2 will feature a series of short form interstitials entitled “120 Minutes Road to Release The Black Keys” showcasing exclusive content offerings including interviews with the band.
On Monday, December 5th, MTV Hive, will livestream The Black Keys’ album release show from New York City’s famed Webster Hall beginning 9pm ET as part of its Live In NYC livestream concert series, http://www.mtvhive.com/watch/live_in_nyc/ , which has featured a myriad of artists including The National, St. Vincent, Two Door Cinema Club, Sleigh Bells and Theophilus London. The hour-long free concert will include selections from the forthcoming album, as well as songs from the band’s extensive catalog. Following the livestream, five of the performances will be available for on-demand streaming.
MTV2’s 120 Minutes with Matt Pinfield will feature a long form interview with the band during its new weekly timeslot on Friday, December 16 from 6AM to 8AM ET/PT.
The Black Keys have been a staple of MTV since 2003 when the network began playing their music video for “Set You Free.” In July, 2010, the band was featured as part of MTV’s weekly music initiative, MTV PUSH (Play Until Someone Hears) that showcases emerging artists. The Black Keys won the 2010 Video Music Award for Breakthrough Music Video for “Tighten Up”, and in 2011 were nominated for a VMA for best rock video and an mtvU Woodie Award
