Four-Hour Wedding Special Airs LIVE Thursday, January 1st At 1p.m. ET/12p.m. C Viewers Can “Watch And Win” For Special Prizes Including $5,000 Cash
Four lucky couples will celebrate 2009 by marrying LIVE, on-air in MTV’s Engaged & Underage: The Bridal Bowl” airing Thursday, January 1 at 1p.m. ET/12p.m. C from the network’s Time Square home in New York City. One of pop culture’s most famous television couples “The Hills” stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will host alongside MTV News correspondents Tim Kash and Kim Stoltz, as a different couple takes their trip down the aisle each hour. Complete with special footage of the couples’ lives pre-marriage and live commentary from their family friends, each hour will culminate in the wedding of their dreams in front of a national audience.
The special will also be a bridal blowout with a major payout as viewers can “Watch and Win.” MTV will give away 24 fabulous prizes beginning at 1p.m. ET with a call-to-action in each segment that will let viewers know phone lines are open and provide them with a prize hotline number. Every ninth caller per segment will win and when the clock strikes 5p.m. ET one lucky viewer will win $5,000 in cash as the final couple takes their vows.
Leading up to the New Years Day event, viewers can log onto engaged.MTV.com to watch past episodes, catch up on the first “Engaged & Underage: Live” wedding and to read Remote Control blog postings on some of their favorite series couples. Hour One: Stephanie (21) & Adam (22) of Kearney, NE
Dating since April 2008, Stephanie and Adam met through a mutual friend and were on the same intramural softball team. Both work two jobs and are full time students.
Hour Two: Elizabeth (21) & Amadeus (22) of Arlington, TX
Amadeus and Elizabeth (Becky) have been dating since they were both 14-years-old. A dancer since she was a little girl, Becky also plays the piano and the violin. Amadeus is a “gym fanatic” who plays ice hockey. Despite their family’s strong disapproval, both remain committed and are ready for the ultimate big step of marriage.
Hour Three: Alessandra (21) & Jonathan (21) of Sarasota, FL
Alessandra approached Jonathan via Myspace and never imagined that it would lead to marriage. Naturally shy, Jonathan was brought out of his shell by Allesandra so much that he proposed to her from a dolphin’s mouth! Unfortunately, their time together will be limited as Jonathan is set to be deployed to Iraq in February 2009.
Hour Four: Amanda (19) & Bradford (20) of Sikesville, MD
Even though Amanda & Brad lived in different cities, a stroke of luck allowed them to meet through IM in 2005. They started dating in 2006 and while they are both young, they know what they want in life and hope to get married before Brad is deployed on a Navy aircraft carrier for an unspecified amount of time.
