Malibu, Calif., is best known for its beautiful beaches and being a favorite frolicking spot for superstars like Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Aniston. But amid the pristine sand and multimillion-dollar mansions is a single, solitary trailer park. This is where rising hip-hop star Shwayze grew up.
OK, so it’s a step up from living on Detroit’s 8 Mile Road, but it’s a trailer park nonetheless. And the musically inclined Shwayze spent his downtrodden days dreaming of busting out of its confines in search of a better life—and maybe even one of those huge houses that loomed all around him. Well, his shot at fame has finally come…
With the help of Cisco Adler, up and coming producer, and regular tabliod fixture, Shwayze landed a record deal with Suretone Records and saw his first single, “Buzzin’,” take off. And MTV was on hand to watch it all unfold.
The aptly titled reality series Buzzin’ chronicles Shwayze’s comical misadventures as he tries to navigate his way through the music industry and make a name for himself with Cisco and tour Manager Wareen by his side. Struggling to keep them in check are Suretone Records head honcho Jordan Schur, who made artists like Ashlee Simpson and Limp Bizket household names, assistant David Patton, tour manager Warren, and new-media guru Cat Lake. Together, the wild bunch embarks on a long, winding road to reach the top of the charts.
Shwayze dreamed of embarking on a big-time music career all his life, but when things take off like a cruise missile, all he can do is hang on tight and enjoy the wild ride. Meanwhile, Shwayze’s best friend and musical mentor, Cisco Adler, who has been under the glare of the spotlight before, tries to keep Shwayze from falling into the standard pitfalls of fame. But, at the end of the day, Cisco’s a rocker at heart, and that means he doesn’t let his own sage advice get in the way of having a good time.
As Shwayze and Cisco Adler ride the wave of success with “Buzzin’” and embark on a journey of a lifetime, there’ll be plenty of candid moments, crazy parties and hilarious hijinks. From video shoots and live performances to beautiful girls and fridges full of beer, the dynamic duo will encounter it all.
